Leeds United take on Tottenham at Elland Road tomorrow lunchtime.
When we got promoted, not many would’ve expected us to finish above Spurs in our first season back in the Premier League. But that is exactly what happened.
Daniel Farke’s side finished 14th, six points ahead of Tottenham, who narrowly avoided relegation and came 17th.
This season, they look a far better side already as Roberto De Zerbi continues to get his ideas across to his players. However, like us, Spurs also have some injury troubles of their own.
Spurs without four players ahead of trip to Elland Road
Yesterday, Farke confirmed in his press conference that Noah Okafor and Anton Stach are major doubts for the game tomorrow.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin too is seemingly not 100% fit as he continues to manage a foot injury. Thankfully, the striker is still expected to feature.
In his press conference today, De Zerbi confirmed that Tottenham are dealing with injuries of their own.
Xavi Simons is still recovering from his ACL injury. However, Savio, Lucas Bergvall and Mykhailo Mudryk are all set to miss the game too through injury. (FootballLondon)
Most fans will be aware that we were heavily linked with Mudryk throughout the summer. This is before the Ukrainian winger ended up joining Spurs instead of United on loan from Chelsea.
The people most relieved by this news will likely be the 49ers, who won’t have to face the prospect of a transfer target that escaped them scoring against Leeds at Elland Road.
Two Spurs players back available ahead of Leeds United game
Prior to Spurs winning their last three Premier League games, they drew 1-1 with Man United at Old Trafford.
During that game, Rodrigo Bentancur was sent off. The Uruguayan midfielder is now back and available for selection after serving his three-match suspension.
Tosin Adarabioyo is also back available for De Zerbi this weekend.
However, it seems unlikely on paper that the English centre-back would go into the starting XI after Micky van de Ven and Jan Paul van Hecke managed to keep back-to-back clean sheets for Tottenham.
But whilst Spurs’ injuries have levelled the playing field somewhat, it’s still Leeds who will likely be the team who are still more depleted by the time kick-off comes around.
