Leeds United take on Tottenham at Elland Road today in the 12:30 kick-off.
United will be looking to rebound following their 2-0 defeat against Bournemouth last weekend in what turned out to be a frustrating trip to the south coast.
Chris Sutton is confident we won’t defeat Roberto De Zerbi’s side today, with Spurs losing just one of their last 15 Premier League meetings against us.
Now, Sutton’s former Blackburn strike partner Alan Shearer has shared his thoughts on the game.
Alan Shearer predicts Leeds United v Tottenham
Both sides are going into today with opposing form.
Daniel Farke’s men have not won since we thrashed Newcastle 4-1 at Elland Road midway through September.
Since then, we have drawn three games and lost two.
On the other hand, Tottenham will come into the game today with their tails up after winning their last three Premier League games on the bounce.
However, despite their upturn in form, which was inevitable at some stage considering how much they spent over the summer, Shearer believes we will provide a tough test for Spurs.
“This should be a good game,” Shearer said in his latest Premier League predictions column for Metro.
“Leeds are not doing so well at the minute. Spurs have found a bit of form, but Elland Road’s a tough place to go. I’m going to go for a draw.
“I think he’s got something going, De Zerbi. He’s got a little bit of belief there, and you just need something to happen, like the red cards for the opposition, but I wouldn’t look too much into that. I think Spurs will be all right. I still think they need a forward, but I think it’ll be a draw there, point a piece.”
Opta’s supercomputer disagrees with Alan Shearer
Whilst Shearer and Sutton predict we will pick up a point today, Opta’s supercomputer thinks we will pick up all three.
According to their data, we have a 41.7% chance of winning.
Spurs’ chances of winning sit at 31.6%, whilst the chances of a draw are said to be 26.7%.
If we had a fully fit team going into the game today, I’d probably still take a draw if you offered it to me now. But with the likes of Noah Okafor and Anton Stach likely to miss out, a draw would undoubtedly be a good result, never mind a win.
We need to just see this game out, if possible, and get into the international break. Hopefully in that time, our players can nurse these injuries, and we can come back after the break fully firing.
But if Okafor and Stach don’t start as expected, I’m looking at Harry Wilson to be the one to step up to provide that quality we desperately need in the final third today.
