Multiple key members of Daniel Farke’s Leeds United squad are struggling with some form of injury ahead of our game against Tottenham.
Noah Okafor is expected to miss the game against Spurs as the Swiss winger continues to struggle with an adductor injury.
Remarkably, Farke also elaborated on Anton Stach’s foot injury. In his press conference, Farke revealed that Stach has a broken pinky toe.
However, another key player for Farke is set to see his risk of injury increase substantially, you would imagine, which is a major cause for concern.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin called up for latest England squad
Leeds again have two representatives in the latest England squad. Both James Trafford and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have been called up by Thomas Tuchel for England’s fixtures against Croatia and Spain in the Nations League.
Typically, as a fanbase, we love to see our English players get called up to represent their country. But I know I’m not the only one who will be nervous throughout the next international break as a result of Calvert-Lewin’s call-up.
Yesterday, Farke confirmed that Calvert-Lewin is still dealing with a foot injury he sustained in the game against Man United. Thankfully, the 29-year-old is still expected to play against Spurs.
However, in an ideal world, Calvert-Lewin would be using this international break to rest and get back to full fitness. Not going away with England and potentially playing two more games.
Farke will also be among those sweating after this news. The German will likely be hiding behind his sofa when watching the England games, hoping that his star striker does not aggravate his injury further.
Hopefully Thomas Tuchel rarely plays Dominic Calvert-Lewin again
In the previous international break, Calvert-Lewin played a combined 21 minutes across England’s four games. The striker was only called upon by Tuchel on two occasions. (Sofascore)
So hopefully, Tuchel doesn’t decide to dramatically increase Calvert-Lewin’s minutes whilst he is managing an injury.
When in the England camp, Calvert-Lewin is not the main man like he is in West Yorkshire. So you’d imagine he is especially eager to impress and make a positive impression; he cannot afford to coast.
I just hope this doesn’t come at the cost of him being injured.
I’d argue that alongside Calvert-Lewin, Okafor and Ethan Ampadu are our three most important players currently. The drop-off behind them in their positions is substantial.
As a team, we’re already struggling to score as it is. We certainly don’t need our talisman to be out on the sidelines because he returns to Thorp Arch injured after a couple of meaningless Nations League fixtures.
