Leeds United have a tough trio of Premier League fixtures looming against Bournemouth, Spurs and Chelsea.
Depending on how you want to perceive Leeds’ start to the season, it’s either an impressive one loss in eight, or a somewhat uninspiring two wins in eight.
Either way, Leeds sit seventh in the division right now. Up next are three successive tough tests against in-form Premier League sides.
Leeds United’s next three assessed: Bournemouth (A), Spurs (H), Chelsea (A)
After a drab, lifeless draw away at bottom club Sunderland, Leeds have another away trip to the other side of the country in Bournemouth this Saturday.
The Cherries, prior to the 18th October, were winless in the Premier League. However, they dispatched the Black Cats and have gone from strength to strength, battering Man Utd at Old Trafford last time out. Those results see Marco Rose’s side in 13th, buoyed by a historic Europa League thumping of AC Milan too.
After that, Leeds return to Elland Road. In West Yorkshire, we face a similarly resurgent Tottenham. Roberto De Zerbi has also banished a winless start with back-to-back wins of late, seeing off Coventry City at home before ending a wretched record at Stamford Bridge with victory over fierce rivals Chelsea.
Then, there’s an international break before Leeds head to Stamford Bridge ourselves to take on Xabi Alonso’s fifth-placed Blues. Had Leeds won at Sunderland, we’d currently be sitting above Chelsea.
Joao Pedro injury confirmed as Chelsea look ahead to looming Leeds United clash
It’s a month until Leeds face Alonso’s Chelsea, but the Blues could be looking at that international break as a means to get a key player back in action.
Brazilian striker Joao Pedro has been integral as part of Chelsea’s prolific front three of Pedro, Cole Palmer and Morgan Rogers. However, he was absent during the defeat to Spurs, unsurprisingly leaving Chelsea looking much more toothless against their London rivals.
Fabrizio Romano has now relayed quotes from Alonso confirming that Pedro will be out for “a few weeks”
A thigh injury leaves Pedro in a race to be fit to face Leeds on November 21st. A ‘few weeks’ could see Pedro fit by the time that fixture comes around after the break, but it would be a tremendous boost for Leeds’ chances if the Brazilian isn’t fit enough to play.
