Leeds United are one of multiple clubs across Europe that are reportedly represented in attendance tonight to watch Club Brugge striker Nicolo Tresoldi.
United didn’t get an awful lot wrong in the summer window. Almost every priority in the transfer market was accounted for, aside from a striker.
Managing director Robbie Evans outlined that the club weren’t ever going to sign someone to replace Dominic Calvert-Lewin, but there was clearly an acknowledgement that it’s a long-term priority to consider.
Leeds United send scout to watch Club Brugge’s Nicolo Tresoldi
With the Champions League well underway this autumn, there are perhaps strikers that Leeds could be taking a closer look at.
Belgian outlet HLN claims Club Brugge’s Nicolo Tresoldi is someone Leeds are considering. It’s claimed that United are one of multiple clubs, including Bayern Munich and Man City to have a scout stationed in Belgium tonight for Club Brugge’s home clash with Lens.
The German U21 international has caught the eye of late with superb scoring form in the Belgian Pro League, plus four goals in his first two Champions League outings this season.
Three of those came in a stunning hat-trick at the San Siro against Inter Milan. Tonight against Lens, Tresoldi could move clear as the outright top scorer in the UCL if he gets on the scoresheet.
Leeds United should monitor double trouble at Club Brugge: Nicolo Tresoldi and Carlos Forbs
Tresoldi’s goalscoring form means he’s absolutely someone Leeds should be looking at in the coming months. Of course, there are several elite clubs who’ll be thinking the same, which makes matters more difficult.
We need to be planning long-term for signing a striker that can overtake Calvert-Lewin in years to come. And, the 22-year-old fits the criteria of what we should be looking at.
Not only Tresoldi, though, but Carlos Forbs has always been someone who intrigues me. He flopped at Wolves, but every time I see Club Brugge, Forbs is a complete menace on the wing.
When Tresoldi got a hat-trick at Inter, Forbs got three assists through blistering speed on the break. He’d be perfect in the Premier League too.
he would be a brilliant signing but way beyond our price range now I suspect
