Leeds United take on Bournemouth today, with Daniel Farke expected to make multiple changes from the side that drew to Sunderland.
United travel down to the Vitality Stadium this afternoon to take on one of the Premier League’s in-form sides in Marco Rose’s Bournemouth.
Even though Whites fans are frustrated at the volume of draws so far, the fact we’re hard to beat should be outlined as a huge strength so far.
Leeds United team news confirmed pre-Bournemouth: Anton Stach doubt with foot injury
Daniel Farke’s press conference for this game – aside from the Jean-Matteo Bahoya monologue – was positive on the injury front.
Nico Elvedi is back after illness, and Joe Rodon is close to returning too. Noah Okafor and Dominic Calvert-Lewin have trained all week, and Dan James is building sharpness too.
The only real issue is that Anton Stach’s foot issue sustained last week has persisted and leaves him a “question mark” for this weekend.
Stach has been out of sorts this season, struggling to recapture the form he demonstrated most weeks last season.
So, an injury like this could prompt Farke to make a change in midfield.
Sean Longstaff knocking on the door for Leeds United start vs Bournemouth
Stach not being at 100% does give Farke an easy decision to make in keeping him out of the starting XI. He’s not been good enough lately, and there’s a potentially obvious move he can make.
Sean Longstaff came off the bench for a brief cameo against the Black Cats last time out. In that time, he provided the only goal threat Leeds mustered in 90 minutes, forcing a smart save from Robin Roefs, before being denied on the goal line by fellow sub Lukas Nmecha.
Since joining United for £12million, Longstaff has had to bide his time for opportunities. But, he’s done everything in his power last time out to change Farke’s mind.
So, there’s scope for him coming in against the Cherries here. His goal return home and away against this opposition last season is even more cause for getting him in.
