Leeds United’s attention turns to Sunderland this week looking to get back to winning ways after a draw at home to Man Utd.
The Whites remain a stern opponent for everyone in the Premier League right now, having come back to draw against Man Utd.
Up next for Leeds is a trip to Sunderland, a side currently struggling badly in the Premier League. Daniel Farke’s men will no doubt want to rectify our haul of just one point out of six last season against the Black Cats.
Sunderland centre-back Kevin Danso suspended for Leeds United after red card v Bournemouth
After a midweek victory in Portugal in the Europa League, Sunderland’s long journeys continued on Sunday with a visit to the South Coasty against Bournemouth.
The Cherries were winless in the league, but buoyed by a likewise Europa League win, and kept up their momentum with an early goal. Leeds-born Marcus Tavernier headed into an empty net as Evanilson broke free of a defensive mishap from Kevin Danso and Omar Alderete to square it to Tavernier.
To make matters worse for Danso, Evanilson again got in behind after a shocking mistake, and the Swiss defender hauled the striker to the ground. A red card swiftly followed for denial of a goalscoring opportunity.
With the Black Cats down to ten, Evanilson then deservedly got his goal after a howler backpass from Alderete gifted him a 1v1.
That red card means Danso is suspended for our Sunday trip to the Stadium of Light.
“To be honest” – Nordi Mukiele delivers explosive Sunderland rant as Leeds United sense opportunity
On top of Leeds facing a Sunderland side without a key defender, another’s comments spell trouble for the home side this Sunday.
Frenchman Nordi Mukiele – a standout last season – was outspoken after the final whistle against the Cherries.
“This game is what we (have been like) from the beginning of the season, to be honest with you,” Mukiele told Sky Sports. “We are not good enough. We deserve to be where we are today, definitely.
“Why? I don’t know. Maybe because we became arrogant, this is what I think.”
Of course, you’d imagine this hands Leeds serious impetus for the weekend. The Black Cats could be rock bottom in a few hours’ time if Spurs avoid defeat to Coventry City.
The mood is so low at the Stadium of Light, and these sorts of outbursts won’t be them any favours. A player saying everyone is playing awfully, with a Europa League fixture in Poland to worry about on Thursday, Leeds are facing a vulnerable side.
Leeds Utd. would have won the game against Man.Utd. if Farke had not put on Lucas Nmecha and Sean Longstaff in stead of Noah Okafor and Ao Tanaka. Both Okafor and Tanaka. Almost the best player Tanaka worked as horse in midfield and Okafor can always make a goal for himself or Calvert Lewin. If anyone must have ben taken off in Leeds, was James Justin for Jaka Bijol.
