Leeds United are thought to be mulling over a third bid to sign Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Brenden Aaronson, with the midfielder currently on international duty.

Leeds’ transfer activity is currently boiling down to one very important question right now, and it’s whether they can land top target Brenden Aaronson, or if they’ll have to wait until the summer.

A new midfielder is the target right now and Leeds mean business when it comes to signing Aaronson, submitting two bids so far, one of £15million and an improved one at £20million – as per The Athletic.

The issue Leeds now face is that neither bid has been accepted and now with Aaronson away with the USMNT, they need to decide if they are to push ahead in the final days of this month, or to wait until the summer.

Salzburg’s stance hasn’t really changed this window, in that they don’t want to entertain selling the 21-year-old with such a massive Champions League tie ahead of them in February, and their silence on the second offer backs up that.

The Yorkshire Evening Post’s Graham Smyth has now reported that Leeds and Victor Orta are “mulling over” a third bid, but are undecided on if it’s the right choice.

Another rejection from the Austrian outfit only drives his price up for when an inevitable summer approach materialises, but Leeds’ need for added quality is there for all to see, and that predicament is what Leeds winter business hinges on right now.

It’s a really tough predicament we find ourselves in because Salzburg are in a strong negotiating position here and we don’t look like swaying their judgement.

If we do go big with an offer and end up not landing him, that only sets us back when we look to sign him in the summer.

That being said, I wouldn’t be shocked to see the club push for it in the final days because the landscape can very quickly change.

We’ve pulled off a couple of deadline day deals since promotion, proving that there is scope for these things moving quickly later on.
