Wolves are reportedly back in discussions with manager Julen Lopetegui over their vacant position, amid links with the Spaniard to Leeds United.

The Premier League has already seen multiple managers lose their jobs with more under pressure after their starts to the season.

Jesse Marsch’s win at Liverpool might temporarily ease the pressure on his position at Elland Road, but the club might have to act if results don’t change beyond the shock at Anfield.

There are two clubs who find themselves without a manager as things stand, and with the World Cup offering a sizeable gap between Premier League games in the winter, there is a chance for an appointment to be made for Wolves, who can address key issues in the period without a game.

They sit in the bottom three as things stand, and as they continue to plug along with caretaker manager Steve Davis, they are now looking to close in on an permanent appointment.

The Guardian have reported, amongst various other outlets, that the Molineux outfit are “confident” of appointing recently-departed Sevilla manager Julen Lopetegui.

Julen Lopetegui has reentered talks with Wolves and the Premier League club are quietly confident of a breakthrough with the Spaniard in the coming days. If talks progress, Wolves expect him to be in position by the beginning of the World Cup break.

Lopetegui has been linked this week with a move to Elland Road as Leeds plan for the contingency of having to part ways with Marsch – according to Alan Nixon.

Lopetegui would have been a very good appointment for us if we did look to part ways with Marsch, which I still think could be likely.

We might have won at Liverpool, but we are by no means out of the woods as we face another real test next in Bournemouth.

Should we lose to the Cherries, you have to seriously question where we are going with Marsch.

Losing to the teams around us is what will put us under immense pressure to stay up this season.
