It is looking increasingly likely that Elche won’t be making Kiko Casilla’s move from Leeds United permanent.

Illan Meslier has been a revelation under Marcelo Bielsa, proving to be one of the best young goalkeepers in Europe.

He’s had virtually no challenge for a first-team spot since he made his league debut away to Hull City in 2020, with Kiko Casilla having to step aside and then never managing to get his place back.

It did seem as though the Spaniard had lost all faith of the fans anyway and when a loan move to Elche arose, it was a chance for the club to wash their hands of what has been a completely failed transfer.

However, it looks as though Leeds won’t be rid of the player by the end of the season, with reports from Marca claiming the La Liga outfit have no intention of securing a permanent transfer for Casilla.

With a headline labelledThe Disappointment’, Casilla’s time has been less than successful and they point to several games where he’s instilled a feeling of ‘insecurity’ in his side.

The Leeds fans weren’t at all surprised by this development…

It just seems that his poor form has transmitted into his La Liga performances too.

This loan could have been a great chance for him to get some momentum ahead of leaving the club permanently.

However, it just seems like he’s regressed further, which leaves us in a strange position.

Will we be able to sell him in the summer for anything? Who knows.
