A manager that Leeds United  are unlikely to be unveiling this week is West Bromwich Albion’s Carlos Corberan, with the Spaniard signing a new deal at the Hawthorns.

Leeds’ hierarchy took the decision to sack Jesse Marsch on Monday, ending the American’s 11-month reign at the club following a 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest on Sunday afternoon. He took 11 points from the last 51 available to him, giving the Leeds board an easy decision to make in the end.

The Whites’ search for a new manager has revealed a handful of major candidates on the shortlist so far, with Victor Orta looking both domestically and across Europe for new head coach choices, including former Leeds assistant and Under-21 coach Carlos Corberan.

Corberan was part of initial shortlists, per Fabrizio Romano; but their interest was short-lived in the end.

Is there any chance of Carlos Corberan joining Leeds United?

Not anytime soon, as shortly after the links to the Elland Road hotseat emerged he swiftly put pen-to-paper to sign a contract extension with the Baggies until the summer of 2027.

It was all good fun with West Brom posting the video below as a part of their announcement in response to the links to Leeds.

There is, of course, a chance Corberan returns to Elland Road one day, but for now it is evident his focus is on West Brom and Leeds’ attentions have since turned elsewhere for now.

It may hinge on the success of the next coach Leeds appoint and whether he gets promoted with West Brom as to whether it could be a move made anytime in the near enough future.
