Leeds United won 2-1 at Anfield to record a famous win over Liverpool on Saturday evening.

The win took the pressure off Leeds’ manager, as it took them out of the relegation places and up to 15th. The win was the Whites’ first in eight games, since a 3-0 victory over Chelsea in August.

Jesse Marsch‘s side recorded their first away win of the season thanks to goals from Rodrigo and Crysencio Summerville, with the latter making it two goals in two games for Leeds.

The young star scored the day before his 21st birthday. Summerville took the game by the scruff of the neck with a minute of normal time left to play with the score level at 1-1. He showed composure and maturity beyond his years to poke the ball into the far corner inside a tightly packed penalty area.

Harry Redknapp gave his verdict on the Dutch youth international.

Speaking in Bet Victor’s Team of the Week for Gameweek 12, Redknapp chose the Dutchman alongside Miguel Almiron, Callum Wilson, and Kieffer Moore in attack.

He was full of praise for the young star. He scored a late consolation against Fulham in the 3-2 loss at Elland Road, but this time his late goal counted for much more at Anfield, in a real moment to savour, he said: “What a moment for him! Grabbing the winner at Anfield in the dying embers of the game. That doesn’t happen too often.”

Redknapp continued with his praise of the Whites, he added: “I thought Leeds were great, they worked ever so hard. A fantastic result.”

Which club did Leeds sign Summerville from?

Redknapp is right to praise the Dutchman, and with Luis Sinisterra potentially back from injury in the near future, Marsch will have a decision to make.

The goals and performances of Summerville cannot be ignored, nor can Jack Harrison’s lack of meaningful contributions of late. It may see Harrison rooted to the bench for now.

The moment, and the result will live long in the memory of Leeds fans. It was one to savour, and one of the most famous wins in Leeds’ recent history. As Redknapp says – they don’t happen too often.
