Leeds United striker Sonny Perkins has scored for the tenth game in a row for club and country as the under-21s beat Tranmere Rovers 5-3 last night.

The Papa John’s Trophy got underway for Leeds’ under-21 side last night as they travelled to Prenton Park to face League Two side Tranmere Rovers.

After going two goals down early on, Leeds hit back to race into a 3-2 lead before being pegged back again at 3-3 by half-time.

The second half was just as action packed with Leeds eventually scoring a fourth and fifth before being reduced to ten men as Sam Greenwood was sent off.

Getting Leeds on their way was Sonny Perkins, who scored yet again for the under-21s to continue his incredible run of form in front of goal.

As he took to Instagram to react to the win, his former West Ham teammate Declan Rice had a cheeky comment for him:

Perkins is on fire, and the level he’s playing at in the under-21s isn’t really his standard.

He’s scoring every week and a major part of the success that Michael Skubala’s side are enjoying right now in the league and cup.

I don’t expect him to be fast-tracked to the senior squad right away, but his form must be catching the eye of Jesse Marsch.

He can’t be scoring this many goals and not be worthy of recognition.
