David Moyes has highlighted the performance of Leeds United’s Tyler Adams for praise following the USA’s 0-0 draw with England in the World Cup on Friday night.

Leeds fans are watching on with pride as Adams proves to be a particular bright spark at the tournament, captaining the USMNT.

On Friday night, he produced a Man of the Match performance against England, frustrating Gareth Southgate’s side and helping to hold them to a goalless draw in Qatar.

The performance of the Leeds man has drawn plenty of praise over the weekend and that’s continued into this week, with West Ham boss, Moyes, commenting on the game (via TEAMtalk) and labelling Adams the best player on the pitch.

“USA did a great job on England playing this way. They left Harry Maguire and John Stones to knock passes to each other, then pressed hard when a pass came into midfield, and on the day England didn’t quite have enough to play round them.”

“I was in Florida when the game was played and saw the American reaction. They felt they were the better team and that Tyler Adams was the best player on the pitch.

“I agree about Adams – Tim Ream was excellent too – but actually thought England, for all that they weren’t at their best, were still the superior side.”

Back-to-back draws with Wales and England leave Adams and his teammates in control of their knockout destiny in Qatar.

USMNT face Iran tonight in the final Group B game, knowing victory will secure progression into the last-16 of the competition.

Who did Adams make his MLS debut for?

Adams has been one of the big talking points on UK soil from this World Cup.

The USMNT captain has had two great games and obviously how he nullified England’s midfield has added to the discussion around him in recent days.

From a Leeds perspective, it’s great to see him getting so much credit. It’s fully deserved after a great tournament.

Fingers crossed for him and Brenden Aaronson their participation in Qatar continues beyond tonight.
