A reported bid of £10m for the service of Ryan Kent has been rejected, with Rangers standing firm as Leeds United pursue the Ibrox winger.

Leeds are keen on a deal for Kent, who has been a permanent Rangers player for just over a year.

What’s the story?

As per Sky Sports’ Transfer Centre (21/08, 09:10), a bid has been rejected for Kent. Other reports are indicating it was a £10m bid that’s fallen way short of Rangers’ valuation of the 23-year-old.

Steven Gerrard has fired a warning at Leeds insisting it’ll take more to get the winger out of Ibrox. However, there’s no desire in Glasgow to move Kent out this summer.

We want the player to stay here, as do the board.

The fans love him also and Leeds will need to respect that, they need to really think hard if they want to come in again.

Kent scored seven goals last season in the Scottish Premiership, whilst he’s started the 2020/21 campaign with two in four appearances.

Marcelo Bielsa is clearly a fan, but many Leeds fans aren’t impressed by the links and don’t feel the transfer is worth pursuing on the back of this morning’s news.

We dive into some strong reaction from supporters…

The view from N12:

It’s proving to be a frustrating summer for Leeds so far.

A pursuit of Ben White isn’t getting anywhere and our initial attempt to sign Kent has fallen flat on its face.

Bielsa is a fan and we need to keep him happy, so you wouldn’t be surprised to see another bid go in. However, is Kent really needed this summer?

As a lot of fans point out, Jack Harrison has Bielsa’s faith, as does Helder Costa. They were really consistent last season and will likely retain their place in the side in the Premier League.

Pablo Hernandez might well drift back out to the right when Adam Forshaw returns, with Ian Poveda another option.

A centre-back and a striker have to be a priority this summer, we can’t afford to head to Liverpool without those two signings through the door.

Anything else on top of that is a bonus, including Kent.
