Jack Clarke secured a victory for England U20s with a last minute header against Switzerland. His nod is below:
Clarke rose to prominence in the football world last season when he made numerous appearances from the bench for Leeds. The flair and direct nature of his attacking style came to Leeds’ rescue on several occasions. Main highlights include the 3-2 comeback against Aston Villa where his introduction at half time with Leeds 2 down kickstarted the Whites’ game and ultimately brought home the 3 points.
This attention attracted much Premier League attention during the Summer transfer window but it was Tottenham Hotspur who would be the club to pick up Clarke in a deal reportedly starting at around £8.5 million and rising. He was then loaned back to Leeds for the season.
Clarke is yet to make a league appearance for Leeds this season with the club wary of the Football League’s 5 loan players in a matchday squad rule. He did however start in both cup games for Leeds this season against Salford and Stoke City.
Jamie Shackleton also featured for England U20s tonight, playing the first 75 minutes of the game.
