Leeds United midfielder Jamie Shackleton looks to be on his way out of the club for good as he aims to make an impression on loan at Millwall.

This summer saw plenty of change in Jesse Marsch’s squad, as a host of signings were made to bolster the strength of the squad, while outgoings were sanctioned too.

Jamie Shackleton sealed a loan move to Millwall for the season after struggling to muster any sort of game time under the American since he was appointed.

So far, it’s been a solid run for the former England youth midfielder, featuring in all 10 of the Lions’ games under Gary Rowett this season, with nine of those being starts.

However, this comes alongside The Athletic’s Phil Hay reporting that there is a major difference between the impact of Shackleton’s loan, compared to fellow Leeds man Charlie Cresswell.

Do you expect Shackleton to play for Leeds again?

No

While the centre-back is at the New Den purely for development’s sake, it would seem that Shackleton could be utilising this as a means to put himself in the shop window.

An option to buy is present in Shackleton’s deal with Millwall, and with that, proof that he is unlikely to be part of the plans going forward at Leeds.

Having failed to really make an impact on the side during their time in the Premier League, it would seem that a move away in the summer of 2023 makes a great deal of sense for Shackleton, Leeds, and wherever he ends up going.

A first chance at regular starts is something that he needs to be taken by the academy graduate, in order for his career to avoid stalling any further after such a bright start.
