Leeds United are searching for a new manager this summer, and amongst the names that have already been linked is out-of-work Steven Gerrard.

The Whites are going to be on the hunt for a number of agreements in the summer window, with no director of football in place, no manager in place for next season, and a host of first team players set to leave the club.

Kickstarting a lot of that is likely to be the manager, rather than the director, with Leeds needing to tackle pre-season in the best manner possible.

Who have Leeds been linked with?

A great deal of names are going to be linked with the club in the coming weeks, with some already emerging as reported candidates for the position.

The Sun have now claimed that Steven Gerrard is someone the club are considering, given that he has been out of work ever since being sacked by Aston Villa in October.

Leeds are said to be admirers of the former Scottish Premiership winner despite his poor run of form at Villa Park that saw him sacked, ending up leading to Unai Emery’s appointment – where the Spaniard brought European football back to the club.

Gerrard to Leeds?

With how many candidates are being touted for the Leeds job, and the lack of clarity at the club, it’s hard to become attached to one particular name for the time being.

One thing that is for certain is that it would be a huge missed opportunity for Leeds if they are to move quickly to appoint Gerrard.

He struggled to nail down any convincing style of play at Villa, while his work at Rangers was commendable but short-lived as he jumped ship before he could showcase any consistency like Ange Postecoglou is.

Gerrard’s time at Villa won’t stop him from getting a job in England again, but it should be seeing Leeds turn their attention elsewhere, knowing he didn’t really prove his worth.

The Championship is going to be a challenging league next season, and we cannot afford to get any manager with a semi-decent record. We need results.
