Tyler Roberts departed Leeds United this summer, making a switch to Queens Park Rangers on a loan deal until the end of the season.

A divisive figure during his time at Elland Road, Roberts, 23, has taken the step back down to the Championship in the hope of more regular game time.

The young forward was often found playing in a less familiar midfield role, but at QPR hopes to play more regularly in his natural position. He has so far played a total of 108 games for Leeds, scoring nine and assisting a further 10 in the process.

How exactly has life started for the Welsh international in the capital? We take a lookโ€ฆ

Howโ€™s it going?

Roberts has so far played in eight games for QPR, scoring once in the Carabao Cup against Charlton Athletic.

The goal was a beauty, and showed signs of what he has been capable of in small doses in a Leeds United shirt.

His league form has been less consistent, though, with no goal contributions to speak of thus far. However, he constantly threatens with his pace and direct running style, and gets into good areas for his new side; something he did well at for Leeds without always having the consistent cutting edge in front of goal.

He has been used as a striker, secondary-striker, and winger so far. No games have come in midfield, which Roberts may see as the biggest positive to come out of the loan so far.

Is he a guaranteed starter?

No, not yet. He has only started four league games and been substituted in all of them. He has come off the bench a further three times as well.

The Welshman is currently being used as sparingly as he was at Leeds and will hope to change that soon, especially due to a drop down a division.

However, QPRโ€™s attacking options are fairly plentiful. Lyndon Dykes, Ilias Chair, and Chris Willock are the primary attacking players in Robertsโ€™ way at the moment.

How will Leeds view this deal?

Given the forward has a year left on his contract when he returns to the club next summer, there will be little sell-on value remaining unless he starts to play and contribute regularly.

QPR reportedly hold a buy option (BBC Sport), but it appears unlikely that it will be triggered on the basis of the current start for the forward.

Roberts needed more game time and experience and is currently being afforded little more than what he had going for him at The Whites. However, do Leeds miss him from their current team? Perhaps not given the attacking players who play in the roles behind the centre-forward; primarily where Roberts played for Leeds, too.
