Two fan favourites need to be dropped for Leeds

It’s impossible to hide, Leeds are in a slump. However it isn’t time to go all Cellino and sack Christiansen. Let’s not forget Leeds are 6th in the league, although only three points above 14th.

There’s problems all over the pitch, players making silly little mistakes that are costing us dearly. You could say the only player with consistency right now is Andy Lonergan. That’s not a great sign. I don’t have all the solutions, but I do think there are two players that are seemingly guaranteed a place in the team that need to be left out on Saturday.

Luke Ayling

Luke Ayling has been one of the best signings for Leeds in years and I am a big fan of his. That being said, he has been playing poorly for over a month now. He finds himself out of position on a regular basis and has been at fault for a number of goals, none more so than the Sheffield United winner. He’s also been sloppy in possession and seems to tire into the second half (that could be said for a lot of the team, to be fair).

Berardi is back from suspension for the Brentford game and if it was down to me, he’d be starting at right-back. He deserves a chance to play in his natural position with Ayling in such poor form, it may give Ayling the wake-up call he needs.

Eunan O’Kane

O’Kane was instrumental to our good run to start the season but like Ayling, he’s faded dramatically. He was so good before because he constantly took the ball from deep and started new attacks, whilst also breaking up attacks from the opposition. More recently, he’s been slow and sluggish on the ball. When he’s off form like he is at the minute, he doesn’t seem to do anything, at all. Again, I don’t dislike O’Kane, I just think at this time he should be given a rest.

Leeds will probably go back to three in the middle against Brentford, with Kalvin further forward (like v Bristol City). I think it’s time to give Klich a go alongside Ronaldo Vieira. Yes, he was poor against Cardiff, but he’s looked promising in other games. There’s a reason he’s played for his country 10 times. He seems as though he’s more inclined for a tackle than O’Kane and we could really use that at the moment.

Let us know what you think needs to change at Leeds before the game on Saturday and for the rest of the season in the comments.

I think it is about time that we gave Anita a chance in his more natural position in Midfield – him and Viera with Phillips just ahead could/should be a lot tighter and maybe the springboard we need

Yes I would agree with that. I think we will win at Brentford and not before time. It’s been 67 years! I am looking forward to seeing Ekuban back in contention too.
Personally I haven’t seen much from O’Kane in the last two games and Ayling is well off his best right now.
If Philips can play further forward and link up with Saiz then we might look a lot better.
There is still a long way to go. I am looking for 40 points minimum by the half way stage and two or three really good signings in early January and push on from there. All the teams will hit there bad spell. However, Christiansen may have boxed himself into a corner with that ‘must win’ statement for Saturday.

O’Kane off form? Perhaps if you went to a match, you’d see you’re talking bollox.
