With the January transfer window beckoning we here at LeedsAllOver with help from @TotalRumours thought it would be a good idea to keep Leeds fans up to date on the latest rumours and transfer news. We know that after a while rumours are annoying and some are just plain stupid but it’s a laugh and keeps football fans entertained. We will do a round-up of the latest Leeds United related rumours and transfer news every week in January.
The main rumour so far is that Cameron Stewart, currently at Charlton on loan from Hull is in talks with Leeds. McDermott confirmed that he was in talks with a player and various sources are claiming it to be Stewart. The pacey winger would be a very popular signing as he is the exact kind of player we have needed since Gradel left. The only negative about that signing would be that he isn’t Gradel… Maybe we could sign both, right?
The Max Gradel and Luciano Becchio rumours of course will just not go away, as of every transfer window at Leeds. Our fans just seem to love the idea of former players coming back. In this case I have to agree, both these players would be great for us and improve us massively. The problem with the January transfer window is that you don’t know if the players signed will be able to handle it at Elland Road, Gradel and Becchio wont have that problem.

In January all Leeds fans will be hoping that some of the deadwood finally gets removed, freeing up some wages. The only possibly outgoing so far is that Aidy White could go to Sheffield United on loan with a view to a permanent deal. There are various other rumours like Luke Freeman. The young winger at Stevenage has attracted interest from many championship clubs, Sky has confirmed. One thing that is for sure is that there will be hundreds of rumours involving Leeds United before the end of January, we haven’t even been taken over yet!
McDermott has said he would like to sign 4 players in this transfer window. According to the man himself he has already missed out on one of his targets as they are going to a Premier League club. If one of the four is Cameron Stewart then that leaves 3. Who could they be?
Gradel Well it is quite likely he’ll want to sign another winger to go with Stewart, with Ariyibi as backup. A striker is definitely needed, it has been highlighted over the Christmas period with Matt Smith struggling. Could it be Becchio? Possibly, but maybe Brian will go for somebody with pace. Even though Leeds have a mass of centre midfielders, I think McDermott will want another one. The fact that we’ve had to play Michael Tonge and Michael Brown recently tells you all you need to know. We can’t rely on Alex Mowatt to be our best player every week at his age. I think the fourth target may be a bit underwhelming, a reserve keeper. With Ashdown out for the season I can see McDermott trying to sign a keeper on loan as it may be too soon for Cairns to be our number one if Paddy gets injured. Check back next week!

I am gonna disagree with you all. About 1 year ago I saw someone playing for hull and he was unplayable I had to look his name up and it was Cameron Stewert. Put him in a side as big as Leeds and he will flourish. Sign him up

look at his history, hes not even good enough for Charlton man…….. your going on the basis of one or 2 games !

      • LeedsAllOver says:

        Charlton want him mate

        • Mike says:

Stewart was dropped back down to the substitutes bench. On 1 October 2013, he was an unused substitute in Charlton’s 1–1 home draw with Nottingham Forest.[24] Four days later, he came on as a 76th-minute substitute for Simon Church in Charlton’s 0–0 draw at home to Blackpool.[25]

  • Dean Casey says:

Kevin Phillips, 40 but could still do well in championship

  • Exeter White says:

I suggest you look at their latest team sheets, and not 3 month out of data Wikipedia pages.

He’s starting regular at the minute … Still not sure he’s good enough though.

I would def take a chance on him he is in a crap side like Charlton and is his heart really in playing for them. He is 22 and has bags of natural ability. Will give him a new lease of life coming to Leeds. Max Gradel wasn’t exactly ripping up trees at Leicester when we bought him, I don’t think its too dis-similar.
