Chelsea are lining up a move to sign Leeds United winger Raphinha in the summer of 2022.

Leeds have relied heavily on Raphinha’s attacking output in the Premier League this season, with the Brazilian scoring eight times for Marcelo Bielsa’s struggling side.

Raphinha has also managed to break onto the international scene with Brazil and, naturally, is attracting interest from some of Europe’s leading clubs.

It’s reported by transfer expert Gianluigi Longari on Twitter that Chelsea are the latest side to have a strong interest in the 25-year-old.

He claims that the Blues are working on a deal for Raphinha with an eye on the summer of 2022, rather than the transfer window that opens in a matter of days.

Raphinha, who has scored 14 goals and registered 10 assists across a season and a half at Leeds, is said to be in talks over a new contract at Elland Road.

His current deal runs until the summer of 2024.

Chelsea showing an interest in Raphinha isn’t really a surprise. They are one of Europe’s leading sides and they should be interested in players like Leeds’ No10.

What they will find in the coming transfer windows, though, is that they aren’t alone with their interest in Raphinha.

Leeds are surely going to field a number of enquires about the winger from Europe and the ‘big six’ in the Premier League.

Another stumbling block for clubs will be Leeds’ valuation of Raphinha, which should increase if they can thrash out a new contract.

In all seriousness, you are talking about a £60m+ deal. The ball, then, will be in Chelsea’s (or whoever else’s) court.
