Attention at Leeds United is turning onto the Premier League again this weekend as they take on Brentford at Elland Road.

Leeds were 5-2 winners against Cardiff City in their FA Cup third round replay during the week, impressing as they progressed into the fourth round.

However, there’s still pressure on Jesse Marsch at Leeds, with his side winning just two of their last 15 Premier League fixtures.

That’s a run that really has to be addressed when Leeds host Brentford this afternoon at Elland Road.

We take a look at Marsch’s squad here, outlining TWO players that we feel have a point to prove to the American this afternoon:

Pascal Struijk

Struijk has had a tough start to 2023, having struggled in the initial tie at Cardiff in the FA Cup and also against Aston Villa in last Friday’s defeat.

He’s got plenty of credit in the bank for the way he’s performed at left-back this season and, despite his showing at Cardiff in the cup, there’s still a thirst to see more of him at centre-back.

However, given that poor start to the calendar year, there’s a point to prove if Struijk comes back into the side against Brentford.

With Max Wober looking composed in his early outings as a Leeds player, plus Liam Cooper’s importance hardly waning, Struijk could do with finding a consistent level again to nail down his place in the XI.

Georginio Rutter

It’s maybe a touch unfair to thrust a new signing we’ve not seen play yet into this list, but Rutter has a point to prove following his club-record arrival at Elland Road.

Rodrigo is in great form right now after notching his 12th goal of the season midweek against Cardiff, whilst Patrick Bamford stepped off the bench with a brace to take his tally to three goals in two games.

Rutter has no guarantees he’s going to walk straight into the side and has to prove himself in training – and probably from the bench – in the weeks to come.

We are sure he will come good eventually but, for now, there’s plenty to prove to Marsch.
