Leeds United head to Molineux to face Wolverhampton Wanderers today looking for more crucial points in a ‘relegation six-pointer.

Leeds find themselves in the Premier League relegation zone currently. They sit 19th in the table on 23 points. However, their hosts today are only four points and six places above Javi Gracia‘s side.

There are five points separating nine teams at the bottom end of the Premier League table, with games against sides such as Wolves going to be key in the battle to remain a top flight club.

The Whites’ game against Wolves is their last prior to the international break. When they return for a key month of fixtures in April, in which they face the likes of Nottingham Forest, Crystal Palace, Leicester City and Bournemouth.

Here, we take a look at the TWO worst case scenarios for Leeds as they head to Molineux this weekend.

Losing the game

First and foremost, the game is a must not lose.

A draw would present another decent point and keeps both sides in the relegation mix, but ideally Leeds would be looking to pick up all three points.

Javi Gracia’s side cannot afford to be cut adrift and a loss would mean that Wolves would be seven points clear of his side. The stakes are high but a draw or win are an absolute must.

Julen Lopetegui has improved things at Wolves, and their playing squad is fairly strong, but that doesn’t mean Leeds can afford to lose such a key fixture. There are no excuses to roll over in a relegation battle.

Dropping to the bottom of the table

If Leeds do lose, there is a possibility that they could go into the two week break as the league’s bottom club, which will not be good for the players psychologically.

As we approach the tail end of the season, results in the table around Leeds become more important to look for. Southampton host Tottenham knowing a win could put Leeds bottom. This is potentially huge in terms of the players’ mental state for the run-in.

The Whites simply have to stay with the pack, so will be keeping an eye on: Nottingham Forest vs Newcastle, Aston Villa vs Bournemouth, Brentford vs Leicester, Southampton vs Spurs, Chelsea vs Everton, and Arsenal vs Crystal Palace. All of the games could have repercussions for Gracia and co.
