Plenty of Leeds United fans have been discussing Sam Greenwood’s performance during the club’s Under 23s game with Manchester City on Monday.

Despite City snatching a late 3-2 win in that game, many Leeds supporters appear to have been encouraged by what they saw from the striker.

Monday night’s game proved a big one for Leeds, with senior players Patrick Bamford and Luke Ayling making their long awaited returns from injury.

Bamford completed the full 90 minutes, while Ayling played the whole of the first half. However, Greenwood seemingly caught the eye just as much.

The 19-year-old fired Leeds in front from the penalty spot 36 minutes into the game, and then netted his side’s second 20 minutes into the second half, with a neat finish at the near post.

Although subsequent late goals from James McAtee and Cole Palmer would turn things around for City, plenty of Leeds supporters were still keen to praise Greenwood as they took to Twitter to give their thoughts on the game.

Here, we take a look at what some of those Whites supporters, had to say about the teenager’s latest performance.

You can’t blame Leeds fans for being even more excited about Greenwood after this.

While the match may ultimately have ended in defeat, it was an impressive performance from the 19-year-old, who showed his confidence and composure in front of goal when Leeds needed him to.

That is just want Leeds will be wanting from their attackers as they look to bring them through to the first-team in the coming seasons.

With Greenwood, having shown his potential previously as well, this showing against City only further suggests he ought to be close to getting more opportunities for the senior side.
