Huddersfield Town defender Harry Toffolo has shared his thoughts on Lewis O’Brien staying put, amid reported January interest from Leeds United.

It was no secret that Leeds needed a midfielder in the January window, and with that came links to a previous target.

The Sun’s Alan Nixon relayed reports that the Whites were tempted to go back in for Huddersfield Town man Lewis O’Brien, following their summer interest.

However, nothing materialised regarding O’Brien or anyone coming into Elland Road, leaving Leeds short for the rest of the season while the Terriers may have been breathing a sigh of relief.

That’s the stance of Town left-back Harry Toffolo, who had this to say on Twitter:

It’s frustrating that we couldn’t get anyone in, but I think the fact we didn’t push hard for O’Brien highlights the patience.

We could have lodged a big-money bid to sign O’Brien and he’d have plugged a gap, but we have our sights on the right man.

Rushing into a backup option that’s a last resort isn’t really the way the club wants to run things.

In actual fact, it’s probably what’s best for O’Brien and Town too, because pushing for promotion would mean a lot more than a payday.
