Leeds United centre-back Charlie Cresswell enjoyed a dream start to life at Millwall as he scored twice on his Championship debut for the club.
The EFL season got underway at the weekend and while that thankfully has no bearing on Leeds’ season after surviving the drop last term, eyes were still on a few games where Leeds players were playing for their new loan clubs.
One of those was Millwall v Stoke City, where the Lions got their season off on the right track with a 2-0 win.
The goalscorer? Charlie Cresswell with a brace as he fired in both goals from corners, one with a bullet header, the second a volley after muscling past his marker at the back post.
He took to Instagram to share his delight at the start he has made at the New Den:
The reaction from the Leeds contingent was as you would expect, proud of the young centre-back:
Who definitely should start up front v Wolves?
We all expected that he would hit the ground running and become an instant favourite at Millwall, but not in this manner.
Cresswell has the potential to be a truly special player, and this (as he says) is only the start.
Leeds have an outstanding talent on their hands and we just have to hope that this loan move is as fruitful for him as we think it could be.
He is readymade to make the Championship look easy in a promotion-chasing team, and he will come back to us after this loan having developed so much.
