Leeds United could be set to confirm the signing of midfielder Darko Gyabi this week in a £5million deal.

The Whites may be parting ways with Kalvin Phillips in a £42million deal with Manchester City, but the club are looking to take a prized asset of the Citizens’ youth side in the meantime.

Leeds had reportedly reached an agreement with Man City to sign midfielder Darko Gyabi, with a medial scheduled this week ahead of a £5million move – per Phil Hay:

Now, it would seem that Gyabi might be getting himself acquainted with the Leeds youth setup, having seemingly followed Norway youth international and Leeds teen Morten Spencer on Instagram:

Would you like to see Gyabi go straight into first-team contention at Leeds?

No

This might mean nothing, but it might also mean that he’s been introduced to the Leeds side.

It’s hard to take this as a definite hint that he is signing or has already, but the two wouldn’t have come across each other during youth football.

Spencer coming through the Sunderland academy before Leeds while playing in Norway’s youth squads, and Gyabi playing at Millwall before Manchester City, and being an England youngster.

While he is not going to replace Phillips, it does look like we’ve managed to bring in yet another smart youth signing that should be quickly knocking in the first-team door.
