A number of Leeds United fans have been taking to Twitter to discuss Kalvin Phillips’ performance in Saturday’s 2-2 draw with Everton.

The midfielder made his first appearance of the campaign against the Toffees, and it seems many supporters were impressed by what they saw.

Following his exploits with England at the Euros over the summer, Phillips was an unused substitute for Leeds’ opening day trip to Manchester United.

Without Phillips’ influence in midfield, Leeds suffered a 5-1 defeat at Old Trafford, with Robin Koch struggling in an unnatural position in the centre of the park.

Perhaps not surprisingly therefore, Phillips was back in the starting lineup against Everton on Saturday.

From there, the England international produced an impressive first performance of the campaign following an engaging battle with Abdoulaye Doucoure in the centre of the park, as Leeds picked up their first point of the season with a 2-2 draw.

Giving their reaction to Phillips’ return to the side on social media, plenty of Leeds fans appeared happy with what they saw from the 25-year-old.

Here, we take a look at what some of those supporters had to say.

It should certainly be a big boost for Leeds to have Phillips back in their midfield.

The England international was a huge miss for Leeds at Old Trafford last weekend, and Marcelo Bielsa’s side were clearly strengthened by having his influence to turn to.

That, it could be argued, highlights the need there is for the club to make sure that they bring in cover for Phillips in the final few days of the window before the end of the month.

For now though, Leeds can enjoy having Phillips back again, and you feel the impact he has will only become even more significant the closer he gets to full fitness in the coming weeks.
