Manchester United winger Dan James is currently undergoing the second part of his medical as he nears a move to Leeds United.

The Whites are looking busy on deadline day after a frustrating month in August, with the Premier League season underway.

Marcelo Bielsa’s side hasn’t seen much upheaval at all since he joined in 2018, but there have been instances where more depth is required, and this window has highlighted it more than most.

Wingers have been in the discussion since day one this summer, but Leeds look to have ended their search with a prime target.

Daniel James looks to be the man to end the current speculation regarding Leeds’ depth behind Raphinha and Jack Harrison in the squad.

It was reported on Monday night by The Athletic’s Phil Hay that a £25million fee was agreed between the two clubs with a medical scheduled for deadline day.

With James expected to be in Leeds today to finalise his hotly anticipated move from Manchester United, all eyes are on the next updates as the deal inches towards completion.

Sky Sports News reporter Keith Downie is at Elland Road currently providing insight into how close Leeds are to announcing the deal, where he revealed that the second part of James’ medical is underway at the club’s training facilities after the Welsh winger travelled to Leeds last night.

Downie also had this to say on Leeds’ stance:

Leeds believe they’ve got good value there, given some of the other transfer fees paid last summer.

£25million might seem a lot but we’re signing a player that has been playing regular Premier League and European football for two years since we tried to sign him.

However, the proof is in our squad that Bielsa could easily coach James into a prospect worth the transfer fee we’re currently about to pay.

Obviously it’s going to be in some form of installments because a set fee at that level is something very knee-jerk that I can’t see us going ahead with.

The sooner this is announced, the better though, because my (and every fan’s) nerves can’t take a repeat of January 2019.
