Leeds United’s reported interest in Maxwel Cornet has not yet materialised in a formal approach for the player, while others remain keen.

The Whites have wingers in their sights as the pre-season schedule looms and there are a number of players who have already been linked with a move to West Yorkshire.

There is not much pressure to add quality that will start over our current two wingers, with the duo currently there more than capable.

While there are so many wingers that the club could pursue, one that has been reported lately is Lyon winger Maxwel Cornet, via The Sun.

The Ivorian international has made a name for himself this season covering from right-wing to left-back and doing a solid job there in Ligue 1.

There hasn’t been much movement beyond this point though as Leeds have turned their attention to other targets including a left-back in Junior Firpo.

Now, LUFCFanZone have revealed further insight pertaining to the Lyon man’s future, pouring a lot of cold water on any move for the player:

It’s not a surprise that this link has gone completely cold since we signed Junior Firpo to fill the left-back slot.

Even if Cornet would be signed as a winger, it’s still not someone I would see the club going for, given that we’ve already expressed interest in more talented players.

The Burnley link stands to reason given that he’s a winger that can do his bit defensively, but also that he’s predominantly a right-winger where they need most focus this summer.

I don’t think we’ll be seeing much more of Cornet being touted with a move to Elland Road any time soon.
