Leeds United midfielder Tyler Adams has been absent from this month’s international break with a hamstring injury, but his season could be over for Leeds too.

The Whites do not need any further injury setbacks this season as they bid to stay in the Premier League, but this international break has proved very troublesome indeed.

Max Wöber and Willy Gnonto joined Tyler Adams on the injury list at Elland Road as they represented their countries last week.

What happened to Adams?

Adams was missing from Leeds’ most recent game against Wolves, as the club confirmed he was to be also absent from international duty due to a hamstring injury.

The extent of the issue was not made clear by this update, with the injury stemming from a training session at Thorp Arch between the draw against Brighton and trip to Molineux.

What’s the latest?

Worrying claims have emerged this morning from America, with Adams obviously not present in the USMNT training camp.

USMNT insider @DiegoMendoza29_ – the man who shared knowledge of Weston McKennie’s move from Juventus to Leeds late in January – has claimed that Adams has undergone surgery and will be out of the rest of the season:

This was relayed by @ManagerTactical too, suggesting noises from the US camp are that the midfielder’s season is over.

While we await official confirmation, this is really worrying for our season.

Adams has been arguably our player of the season, and to lose him for the most important stretch of games that we have is terrible.

The lack of noise coming from Leeds since that initial update did suggest that it was worse than first thought, though.

Marc Roca and McKennie are going to have to step up hugely in these final games now.
