Leeds United are looking to tie down Crysencio Summerville to a new contract amid transfer interest from elsewhere.

Leeds’ youth investment was a huge contributor in their push for survival last season, and proof that this transfer policy can be successful.

For Crysencio Summerville, though, it’s been a case of being within touching distance of regular senior football for so long, yet having very little chance to prove why in 2021/22.

The winger joined back in the summer of 2020 and made his senior debut last season, but has been bit-part under both Marcelo Bielsa and Jesse Marsch.

With his contract running down towards expiry next summer, parties have registered their interest in signing him, knowing how talented a player he is based on limited Premier League involvement and tearing up the PL2 with the under-23s.

Now, Fabrizio Romano is reporting that Nottingham Forest and AZ Alkmaar circle for the player, the club are plotting to tie him down to a new contract:

The first thing we need to prioritise is a long-term deal that shows how much he is worth to us.

Bring him in line with other youngsters who are first-team ready, and show him in pre-season that he has a place here.

The likely exit of Raphinha means there’s a gap open for him to potentially fight for.

We can’t afford to let him leave on loan or permanently this summer, because we know how much of a talent he really is.
