Kalvin Phillips looks set to be unveiled as a new Manchester City as the paperworks are completed to see him move away from Leeds United.

With pre-season underway and Leeds’ internationals expected to report back to Thorp Arch on Monday, Kalvin Phillips won’t be joining them.

A move to Manchester City is going ahead and after it was reported that the midfielder underwent his medical with the club on Friday.

Phillips’ announcement was expected yesterday but none came, but now Fabrizio Romano is reporting that there is nothing in the way of Man City confirming the signing:

Phillips is reportedly set to join Man City for a reported £42million fee rising to £45million with add-ons, while Darko Gyabi’s £5million move is imminent too.

Signed and sealed.

It’s a real shame to see Phillips leave the club and for a smaller fee than we could have got, but we couldn’t stand in the way of such a good move.

He’s going to be winning trophies every season and developing under arguably the best coach in the world.

It comes as no surprise to me that he’s turned down every other offer to join the champions, but I do think that hampered our negotiations over a fee.

We weren’t able to raise the price because Man City knew Phillips was only moving there.
