Leeds United winger Crysencio Summerville has been handed the number 10 ahead of the new season.

The Whites have seen Raphinha leave the club this summer as a mega bid from Barcelona was eventually put on the table and accepted by the club.

It sees Leeds with a big hole to fill in their side ahead of this season, knowing that his double-figure goal tally is very hard to replace.

Alongside the new attacker signings, Leeds have agreed fresh terms for three youngsters today, with Crysencio Summerville, Joe Gelhardt, and Sam Greenwood all penning new long-term contracts.

Summerville’s future was up in their air heading into this summer after looking to leave in January, but with Marsch aiming to re-shape the squad, it appears as though the Dutch winger is a firm part of the plans.

So much so, that as his contract until 2026 was revealed, he posed for photographs with the number 10 shirt, recently vacated by Raphinha:

Is Summerville ready to replace Raphinha?

Almighty shoes to fill.

Summerville definitely wanted some sort of sign that he was going to be a firm part of plans, and going to be getting game time, and this is it.

Being given that number after Leeds lost Raphinha is a massive show of confidence in his abilities and while he’s not expected to live up to the same standards as the Brazilian, he’s going to be important to us going forward.

I am glad that the club aren’t looking to let him leave on loan this summer, because we are going to need more depth that we had last season, even if it’s at the cost of losing our best players.
