John Egan and Lys Mousset look set to miss the visit of Leeds United this Sunday, giving Sheffield United boss Chris Wilder a significant headache.

Leeds are heading to Bramall Lane on Sunday looking to add to the Blades’ early season struggle.

Wilder’s side have lost to both Aston Villa and Wolves so far this season and are without a point.

Key personnel will be missing this weekend too, in the shape of Egan.

Egan saw red in Monday night’s defeat to Aston Villa. He tussled with Ollie Watkins for a long ball over the top and as adjudged to have fouled the forward.

After a VAR check, Egan was off, leaving him with a one-game suspension.

Leeds Live note how Egan will be absent from Sunday’s clash with Leeds, with pressure on Chelsea loanee Ethan Ampadu to step into the heart of defence.

The Irish mainstay isn’t the only first-team player looking set to miss out either.

The same report confirms that Mousset has a problem with his foot that he’s carried over from pre-season.

Wilder will address the media later this week to potentially provide an update on the striker’s fitness.

Egan missing for Sheffield United is a big blow for the Blades.

Every time you watch the Blades, he’s the rock in their back-three. That was the case in the Championship and then in the Premier League.

That’s an area of the side Marcelo Bielsa will target, I’m sure, particularly with Leeds really flying going forwards.

Whilst that’s a boost, it’s pointless focusing on the opposition.

Leeds need to take care of themselves and that will give them the best possible chance of picking up a positive result.

Bielsa will be encouraging his side to take the game to Sheffield United and, if they get themselves on top, the result should (hopefully) take care of itself.

It’s a tough fixture, though. With or without Egan.
