Striker Rafa Mujica is still training with Real Oviedo, as he waits for Leeds United to make their move with regards to his future.
That’s according to a report from local Oviedo newspaper La Voz de Asturias, who have been providing an update on Mujica’s current status, as he waits for news from on his next move from Elland Road.
Mujica joined Oviedo on loan Leeds back in the summer transfer window, although the deal has so far yet to work out for the 22-year-old.
Having featured in just four of Oviedo’s 22 league games so far this season, it was recently the club’s chairman Francesc Arnau recently confirmed that they are looking to cut the striker’s loan deal short, amid interest from Mujica’s former club Las Palmas.
Arnau did however state that any change in Mujica’s position would need to be decided on by Leeds, and it seems as though the Yorkshire club have still yet to make a decision on that, with the January transfer window drawing to a close.
According to this latest report, Mujica is continuing to train as normal with Oviedo, as he waits for Leeds to make their move with regards to his future.
It is thought that the striker’s loan with Oviedo will be cut short before the window closes, although it remains to be seen exactly when that will happen, or what will be next for Mujica once it does.
This will surely be frustrating for Mujica.
Things haven’t gone any near as well as he would have hoped for them to during his time at Oviedo, where he has got nowhere near the amount of game time he would surely have hoped for.
As a result, you do feel as though he will be desperate for a move elsewhere, in order to get the regular first-team football he needs to prove himself to those watching on from Elland Road, and potentially elsewhere.
With that in mind, you do feel as though Leeds need to do right by Mujica and cut this loan short with the view to securing him another one, particularly considering he is showing a decent attitude by continuing to train with Oviedo despite his difficult situation, which surely means he deserves another chance somewhere else.
