Leeds United could still make a move this January for Valencia‘s 20-year-old left-back Jesus Vazquez.

Spanish outlet Plaza Deportiva first reported of Leeds’ interest in the Spaniard, they claimed that “the Premier League is pending” for Vazquez.

According to a report from El Desmarque Valencia. The left-back is reportedly a target for the Whites during the current window, but a move has not yet materialised.

The left-back could be a long-term project, though, given his age and lack of experience. He has played 24 senior games so far in his career for Valencia.

Leeds bolstered the left side of their defence recently with the signing of Max Wöber from Red Bull Salzburg but Spanish outlet Fútbol Total believe that Leeds’ interest in Vazquez has not subsided.

They confirmed that the Whites would be willing to sign the left-back for as much as seven million, they said: “Leeds United are interested in signing Jesús Vázquez, a Valencia player. The English club would be willing to offer £7M (around €9M ) for the player.”

Leeds All Over sources have confirmed to us that Leeds do like the player as a long-term project and the links are “genuine” but it is unclear as to whether he will be a signing made in January or one for the summer.

Leeds have no left-back in the development squad currently. Alfie McCalmont and Leo Hjelde had both covered there but the pair have both been loaned out during the window, leaving Leeds short of options.

Which club did Leeds sign Wöber from?

Leeds using Wöber as a centre-back against Brentford will certainly have some fans thinking that another left-back is required.

Vazquez would be a good addition as someone who could cover the first-team and play some senior minutes but also play regularly for the Under-21 side to get regular game time in some capacity.

However, this month has other priorities, so perhaps it’s one to keep an eye on going into the summer window instead.
