Leeds United are on the hunt for a director of football to replace Victor Orta this summer, and could be looking to make an approach for Genk’s Dimitri De Condé.
The Whites are going to be extremely busy in the summer no matter whether they manage to stave off relegation or not, with a takeover expected, bringing boardroom, management, and playing squad changes.
Victor Orta’s exit from the club in the beginning of May leaves the club without a director of football at the moment, and that’s sure to be a key appointment in the coming weeks.
Who could Leeds appoint?
Belgian outlet Nieuwsblad are claiming that Leeds are one of the clubs that have registered interest in Genk’s impressive technical director Dimitri De Condé.
The 48-year-old has helped raise Genk’s stock in the past few years with some very shrewd signings which have ultimately gone on to make the club a lot of money in the transfer market:
“For example, Leeds United, which said goodbye to sporting director Victor Orta earlier this month, Tottenham and Southampton De Condé are on their list. The Limburger did business with Southampton, who had meanwhile been relegated, last winter for the transfer of Paul Onuachu.”
Who is De Condé?
De Condé has been Genk’s technical director since 2015, where he has managed signings into the Belgian outfit such as Leon Bailey, Ruslan Malinovskyi, Sander Berge, Joakim Maehle, Ianis Hagi, while sensational goalscoring talent Gift Orban joined this January.
The report claims that De Condé is responsible for bringing in around €300million in sales for Genk players during his time at the club.
Leeds v Spurs predictions?
With the new director of football, we need someone in place that is able to find gems for a fraction of what they should be worth.
Orta did have some great signings in Willy Gnonto, Raphinha, and others, but they were mixed with a number of very poor ones too.
De Condé has interest from a number of clubs alongside Leeds, which tells you we’re talking about an exceptional director.
