Sean McGurk is set to attract the interest of Leeds United in the January transfer window.
Leeds laid a heavy focus on strengthening their you set-up in the summer, but they missed out on the Wigan starlet.
There looks set to be another move for the 17-year-old in January, though.
Leeds swooped to sign Joe Gelhardt from Wigan in the summer amid the Latics’ financial troubles.
However, they couldn’t land McGurk and had a bid rejected by the Lancashire side’s administrators.
According to the Sun, Leeds will be back in for the 17-year-old in the January transfer window in an attempt to bring the midfielder to Elland Road.
Marcelo Bielsa has given a number of the club’s young midfielders the green-light to go out on loan.
Alfie McCalmont is with Oldham, Robbie Gotts at Lincoln and Jordan Stevens with Swindon.
Since taking charge of the club in 2017, Andrea Radrizzani and Victor Orta have laid a heavy focus on strengthening Leeds’ academy.
In the summer, they went big to land the likes of Gelhardt, Sam Greenwood and Coady Drameh. McGurk is a clearly a player they like and they want him again.
Given the fact some good midfielders have gone out on loan, Leeds’ pursuit makes sense, as they look to make sure Bielsa has enough bodies in to cover his thin first-team.
If Orta (or Bielsa) have a player on their radar, they don’t forget him. Ben White was an example of that and it appears McGurk is going to be the same.
It would be no surprise to see Leeds land him in January.
