James Garner remains a player reportedly on Leeds United’s radar heading into the summer transfer window, although the Manchester United man is not short of suitors after helping Nottingham Forest to promotion.

Leeds avoided relegation back into the EFL on the final day of the season and, naturally, attention has turned to recruitment.

Brenden Aaronson is already through the door, with much more to do in what is Jesse Marsch’s first opportunity to bolster the squad he inherited from Marcelo Bielsa.

As per a report from the Mirror, Leeds hold an interest in Garner of Manchester United.

The 21-year-old midfielder has just spent the season on loan with Nottingham Forest, scoring four goals and registering eight assists, helping the Reds win promotion via the play-offs. It was Garner’s cross that Levi Colwill turned into his own goal for Forest’s 1-0 win over Huddersfield Town at Wembley.

Garner’s impressive performances haven’t gone unnoticed and Leeds aren’t alone with their interest.

This report also claims that Leicester City and Southampton could move for Garner, whose future at Manchester United remains in doubt.

Quiz: Which of these 15 players have played for both Leeds United and Manchester United?

1 of 15

First up, did Lee Sharpe play for both Manchester United and Leeds?

Garner is a top player and he’s been so impressive for Forest this season in the Championship. There’s very little denying that the 21-year-old would be a good addition at Elland Road.

However, such is his potential, you’d imagine that a loan deal will be the only achievable outcome for any of the interested clubs, at least without breaking the bank.

In addition to that, it’s not exactly straightforward for Leeds with Leicester and Southampton in the mix to sign the midfielder.

Then, you’ve got Forest, who are heading to the Premier League again.

Surely if Garner is going to be heading out of Manchester United on loan, Forest are going to be the favourites to sign him given how settled he looks in Steve Cooper’s system.
