Liverpool are reportedly readying an offer for Leeds United star Raphinha, with the Whites targeting Bayern Munich’s on-loan winger Douglas Costa as a result.

The Whites might have struggled to get much of an impact out of Pablo Hernandez this season, but it hasn’t made much difference with Marcelo Bielsa finding different sources of creativity.

Signing Rodrigo and Raphinha in the summer has seen us hit the ground running in the Premier League, with Patrick Bamford still on the end of a similar rate of chance creation.

However, with top performance comes other clubs sniffing around for a deal.

Football Insider had reported that Liverpool scouts had been blown away by the Brazilian following his tremendous impact this season.

He’s managed four goals and four assists in 16 appearances so far, with stunning efforts against Everton and West Brom the pick of the bunch so far.

Now, this interest has been relayed by Fichajes.net who claim that Liverpool could be readying a €40million offer for the winger.

This report also details that Bielsa has sourced his replacement already, with on-loan Bayern Munich winger Douglas Costa the replacement.

Costa has been out of sorts in Munich and won’t make his stay in the Bundesliga permanent once his loan expires, as well as not being keen to remain at Juventus.

11 league appearances have yielded only one goal and assist so far this season.

I’m very sceptical about almost all of this transfer link between us, Liverpool, and Douglas Costa.

Firstly, we’re not selling Raphinha any time soon unless someone stumps up a huge fee to sign him, so €40million is just ludicrously low, especially from someone in our league.

Secondly, Douglas Costa doesn’t strike me as someone we should target anyway, regardless of being a replacement.

He’s hit 30, so he’s six years older than Raphinha, and isn’t even playing as well as him this season, and at a value of £18million, there are better value players that would be out there for us.

There’s very little logic to any of the steps to this report working when you look at what would have to happen, and I’d be highly doubtful of Raphinha going, and then Costa coming in to replace him.
