It’s been claimed that Leeds United could target PSV’s Cody Gakpo as Raphinha’s replacement in a €30m deal.

Leeds are facing up to the possibility of losing Raphinha this summer on the back of a campaign that saw the Brazil international bag 11 goals in the Premier League.

Replacing him will be difficult for Jesse Marsch and Victor Orta, yet there are some presentable options in Europe.

One of those options is reportedly Gakpo, with FootMercarto crediting Leeds with an interest in the 23-year-old.

Gakpo scored 19 goals in all competitions for PSV last season, as well as notching an impressive 14 assists. He’s a full Dutch international, who has experience across Europe’s elite competitions.

It’s said that Leeds would have no trouble coughing up the €30m asking price either, given the level of fee the club would recoup from Raphinha’s sale.

Has Raphinha scored a goal for Leeds against Arsenal?

This is a really interesting link given Gakpo’s reputation.

He’s seen as one of the top players in the Eredivisie and has really drilled that home in the last 12 months with an incredible number of goal contributions.

In many ways, he’d more than cushion the blow of losing Raphinha, leaving Leeds with an exciting winger capable of making things happen out of nothing.

And, as is mentioned, the fee wouldn’t be an issue for Leeds, who you’d hope to see land a £60m fee for Raphinha.

The only question mark you’d have over this is whether Leeds can actually convince him to come, as the 23-year-old has all the ability to be playing in Europe next season.
