Leeds United midfielder Kalvin Phillips is reportedly set to seal him move to Manchester City in Friday.
The Whites are in a major summer of change right now with plenty of incoming transfers coming to shake up Jesse Marsch’s squad.
Replacements are going to be needed, though, to ensure that the pending loss of two stars isn’t too detrimental to overall progress.
Kalvin Phillips‘ move to Manchester City is very close now, after a fee was agreed last week in the region of £42million, plus add-ons.
Leeds ought to get the departure wrapped up as quickly as possible to ensure that they have ample time to bring in an adequate option to take his place.
Now, the Daily Mail are reporting that the deal is expected to be completed on Friday 1st July.
“For their part, Leeds will focus on their own targets as they prepare to bank over £100m from the sale of Raphinha and Kalvin Phillips, who is expected to join City on Friday.”
Phillips has been on holiday after international duty with England, and would be expected to complete his move when he returns.
A medical is booked for tomorrow too where Phillips will complete the other formalities of the deal after that – via Football Insider.
Is £42million enough for Phillips?
Yes
No
After the agreement came some time ago (from a transfer perspective), it would seem that a completed move is imminent.
It is such a shame that we’re going to have to bid farewell to Phillips, but if he’s to go anywhere, at least we know he’s going to a club where he will become a top player.
Marcelo Bielsa made him the player he is now, and you can see why Pep Guardiola sees a lot in him, and he will take him to the next level.
Our job now is to find someone good enough to replace him where we won’t be regretting letting him go for less than £50million.
