Cody Drameh is expected to leave Leeds United during the January transfer window.

Leeds have been unable to offer Drameh the necessary pathway into the first-team at Elland Road, with Rasmus Kristensen and Luke Ayling established as first choice duo at right-back.

That’s despite Drameh’s impressive loan at Cardiff City during the second-half of last season, with just a pair of appearances coming around in 2022/23.

A report from the Yorkshire Evening Post has provided a fresh update on the future of Drameh, where they concede that “both sides anticipate movement in the window” to come this January.

They claim that Drameh’s camp have relayed that there’s interest from Newcastle United and Borussia Dortmund in the 20-year-old, whilst Leeds are also expecting further interest from Germany and Holland, as well as the domestic market.

Drameh has totalled seven appearances for Leeds since his debut in 2021, yet he’s played only 160 minutes under Marsch this season, playing the full EFL Cup clash with Barnsley and then 70 minutes of the 5-2 defeat against Brentford.

The big updated Cody Drameh quiz – Can Leeds United fans score 20/20?

In what year was Cody Drameh born?

This is such a shame as there’s been a clear improvement in Drameh over the last year, mainly due to that aforementioned loan in the Championship with Cardiff.

However, despite that move’s success, it’s not opened the door for him at Leeds with Rasmus Kristensen coming into the club.

Whether Drameh has done enough to earn his chance over the Dane is up for debate, but there are plenty of supporters that would’ve been happy to see him move ahead of Ayling in the pecking order this season.

That’s not been the case, though, with Leeds now looking set to lose a huge talent and their long-term succession plan at right-back. It might be, then, that the summer requires another rethink when it comes to the future of Ayling.
