It seems that a deal for Leeds United to sign Torino full-back Ola Aina will depend on the Italian side bringing in a replacement for the 25-year-old.

That’s according to a report from Calciomercato, who say that Torino have already identified who they want to bring in to replace Aina.

Earlier this month, reports emerged claiming that Leeds are interested in a deal to bring Aina to Elland Road this month.

Now it seems that there is a chance that could happen, depending on other deals being agreed elsewhere in Italy.

According to this latest update, Torino have agreed a deal with Lazio to sign Mohamed Fares, and once that move is completed, Aina will be allowed to leave, with Leeds’ interest reiterated.

There is however one issue here, which is that Fares is currently on loan at another Serie A side in the form of Genoa, who would have to agree to cancel that loan spell, to allow a move to Torino to happen.

So far this season, Fares has nine appearances for Genoa, scoring two goals and providing one assist in that time.

You get the feeling that this does not look entirely promising from a Leeds United perspective.

It seems as though this all depends on Genoa agreeing to cancel Fares loan to allow him to move to Torino, without getting anything in return.

As a result, given that would seemingly both weaken them – when they are already battling relegation – and strengthen a rival, it is hard to see why they would agree to such a deal.

Considering what is said here, that looks to be a blow to Leeds’ hopes of signing Aina, meaning they may need to look elsewhere if they are to add to options in the full-back positions this month.
