Newcastle United manager Eddie Howe is reportedly confident that his club will be able to sign Leeds United winger Jack Harrison.

Leeds are in a relatively strong position ahead of next season as they look to build on survival under Jesse Marsch in 2022.

Having sold two star players, the club will be hopeful that the only major transfers left to conduct are arriving players, rather than letting any other first-team players leave.

Jack Harrison is the player drawing the most speculation at Elland Road right now, with Newcastle United testing the waters over a potential signing – per The Athletic.

Such talk has been fuelled by the winger’s non-committal on his future during the pre-season tour of Australia – when asked whether he was staying, he simply responded “we’ll see what happens” (via the YEP).

The Magpies are some way off the current asking price north of £35million, but The Chronicle are reporting that manager Eddie Howe is confident of pulling off this signing before their season kicks off with a home clash against Nottingham Forest on August 6.

Harrison remains one of their prime targets as they aim to add a wide man to the attack at St James’ Park, having already seen a bid reported £25million bid rejected for him.

Can you see Harrison leaving this summer?

Confidence is one thing, but we’ve clearly set our stall out with huge asking price that they would be quite naive to pay.

If they want one of our more important players, they are going to have to pay a hugely inflated fee to take him, it’s that simple.

Harrison may have made those comments suggesting a move would be considered, but he will still be happy to stay here and continue with this project.

We need to build on last season and losing him alongside Raphinha would be a very big backwards step.
