Leeds United’s Willy Gnonto is attracting interest from Premier League giants Manchester City and Arsenal this summer.

Championship football is unfortunately returning to Elland Road next season, but there are going to be a fair few of the current squad that won’t be there with them.

Even though they deservedly finished 19th in the Premier League, Leeds’ squad is filled with internationals that might warrant transfer approaches from clubs higher up.

Will Gnonto leave?

Someone who is going to gather a lot of attention in the transfer market is Italian international Willy Gnonto.

The forward only joined Leeds for £3.8million in the summer of 2022, but has had a tremendous impact already with four goals and four assists in all competitions while being a constant live-wire on the wing for the Whites.

Who wants to sign Gnonto?

Italian outlet Calciomercato are now reporting that the 19-year-old is subject to strong interest from Manchester City and Arsenal.

Top clubs from the Serie A were already expected to be in the mix to sign Gnonto this summer, but they have now been joined by the top two of the Premier League in Pep Guardiola’s and Mikel Arteta’s sides.

Both clubs are said to be following his situation closely in order to learn what Leeds intend to do with him this summer, and whether a transfer will be possible.

I’m sure Guardiola will have liked what he’s seen from Gnonto this season, especially when he made a fool of his defensive midfield master Rodri back in December, with this brilliant nutmeg:

The truth is, every Leeds fan would love for the club to keep hold of Gnonto, but an Italian international seen as the future for his nation is not going to be sticking around too long.

If the right money comes in, then we’ve got no chance of keeping hold of him in the coming months.

However, we’re in a strong position to command a very big fee, given that we’re going to be selling a lot of other players for decent fees too.
