Luis Sinisterra could be an even better player for Leeds United when he returns after the international break.

That’s according to the club’s former goalkeeper Paul Robinson, who has already been impressed with the way the winger has adapted to life at Elland Road.

In the wake of the departure of Raphinha in the summer, a new winger was always going to be on the agenda for Leeds during the transfer market.

They would get their new man in that position in the form of Sinisterra, who joined from Feyenoord for a reported £21million.

Since then, the 23-year-old has wasted no time making an impact at Elland Road, scoring three goals in his first eight appearances for the club.

The winger then continued his strong recent form in the international break, scoring his first goal for Colombia in their 4-1 friendly win over Guatemala on Sunday.

Now it seems that Robinson believes that will be something else for the 23-year-old to build on, when he returns to club action with Leeds at the weekend.

Speaking to MOT Leeds News about Sinisterra, the former England international said: “There were always going to be big shoes to fill with Raphinha but I think the way he’s started for club and country this year has been excellent.

“The way Leeds played against Chelsea was the biggest nod in Jesse Marsch’s favour with the way they approached the game.

Sinisterra’s fitting into the style and the way of playing and his goals at international level are going to give him the confidence to come back to be even better.”

It does feel hard to argue with this assessment of Sinisterra from Robinson.

The winger has made an immediate impact since arriving at the club, which will have been vital given the pressure he was under, to replace a key figure such as Raphinha.

However, he does look to have taken to that role seamlessly, and the fact he has continued that for Colombia, means he should be in the perfect mindset to remain a threat when he returns to Leeds.

As a result, you get the feeling that the signing of Sinisterra, is already looking like being a very smart piece of business from Leeds.
