FIFA are set to announce that the 2019/20 season will be completed to ensure each campaign can reach its conclusion, which will be music to the ears of those affiliated with Leeds United.

The Whites were looking on track to clinch their long-awaited promotion back to the Premier League after a run of five straight league wins and as many clean sheets in the Championship helped them to move seven points clear of third-placed Fulham.

Just nine games stand in between Marcelo Bielsa’s side and promotion but recent global developments have put a harsh halt on proceedings and they have been made to wait patiently for the season to resume.

It’s been a nervous wait for the Elland Road faithful in the past few weeks as growing talk of how to handle the end of this season has suggested the season be rendered null and void to ensure that the footballing calendar retains some normality for the seasons going forward.

However, there have been strong suggestions in the recent lockdown that the governing bodies have every intention of completing the current season regardless of the delayed restart, to maintain the integrity of the competition.

FIFA have recently revealed, via The Athletic, that they are going to grant an indefinite extension to the 2019/20 season to ensure that the likes of Leeds can complete their seasons and potentially clinch promotion as hoped.

It is the strongest indication yet that Leeds could be looking at completing their season as planned, and the fans were delighted with this development…
